How Many Calories Are There In Grapefruit?
Many of us have heard about the diet benefits of eating grapefruit regularly, but we may be wondering exactly how many calories in grapefruit we are getting whenever we eat them. The answer to this question may be a little bit more complicated than what you had considered in the first place. The basic number is, half of a medium-size grapefruit is going to contain roughly 40 calories. That being said, however, there are some other reasons why you may want to consider eating this food regularly in your diet.
First of all, many of us have heard about the grapefruit diet and the fact that a lot of people have lost a considerable amount of weight by eating in this way regularly. They don’t really pay attention to the amount of calories that they are eating whenever they are taking in the grapefruit, what they are more concerned about is the fact that calories don’t really matter when you are talking about grapefruit because they have amazing fat burning properties. As a matter of fact, you might even consider these to be one of the rare 0 calorie foods, simply because you’re going to get more calorie burning benefits by eating them than the calories you are actually taking in.
Another reason why you would want to include grapefruit in your diet is the same reason why you would want to include any type of raw fruits or vegetables in your diet, they are good for you. Whenever food is cooked over 115°F, it becomes dead food and all the enzymes in it are killed. There is an old saying that you are what you eat, and if you’re always eating dead food, that is exactly what you will eventually become. If you eat live food, you’re getting all of the enzymatic benefits from eating it.
Of course, eating grapefruits is not the only way for you to lose a considerable amount of weight and although it can be a good part of a regular diet, you should also make sure that the rest of your diet falls right in line with it. As I already stated, the easiest way for you to do this is to include raw fruits and vegetables into your diet as much possible and if you can possibly eat about 70% raw, you will not only get the weight-loss benefits from it, you will get many health benefits from it as well.
Not to be overlooked, however, are the benefits of exercise. If you exercise properly, adding lean muscle mass to your body, you will assist it in burning fat and metabolizing it very quickly. The real key is to work the largest muscles in your body, the legs, as this is where you will add the most muscle the fastest. It is all part of an overall fitness regime that can help you to lose weight and keep it off permanently.
